  • Herbs gone to seed

    Hi guys,

I started a herb collection last year in an outside unheated shed.

    Temperatures do fluctuate a lot.

This year a lof of the herbs have gone to seed. Is this it for them? Do I need to pull out and re-grow new? Or can I manage them without starting fresh?

generally if they have gone to seed it probably means you will need to start again at some stage with those, although it does depend on exactly which herbs you have got. Obviously the seeds and the rest of the plant may still be usable so it won't necessarily be a sensible decision to just get rid of it.

Some herbs are annuals, some are perennials. It really depends on what herbs you're growing as to what you can do with them.
      Need more information!

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
