  • Pruning saw recommendation needed.

What size and style of pruning saw do you find to be the best?

    Thanks,

Buy a laplander. They are brilliant saws that can easily cut up to 4inch branches. I'd use one instead of a bowsaw even for wider branches.

Are we talking about pruning a reasonable sized branch?

I use a Silky Pro-Sentei, well anything Silky Gomaro make

These folk have good descriptions etc., but you will probably find a better price elsewhere

          Darlac

Have a look at Pruning | Darlac – Garden Tools

          I use Sabre.

For heavier jobs and I use a corded Bosch reciprocating saw, which is good for messy jobs like tree roots as blades easily replaced.

Takes up less space in a box / barrow full of tools when out in the garden ... but the non folding ones come in a scabbard, which can be worn on a belt, so if doing a lot of pruning I think it would just be down to personal preference (and how "rigid" the folding joint was when sawing a branch vigorously).

For me, I'm more interest in how sharp they are and how well they cut - its time & energy pruning, and I want a saw that cuts like a knife through butter. But the "good ones" are perhaps expensive for anyone just wanting to trim a couple of branches ...

There are YouTube videos of people cutting significant branches, rapidly enough , with pruning saws, and viewing some of those influenced my decision on "brand / model".
