  • Larger "grower" packs

If you want to grow a lot of any specific veg and find that a standard packet is too small try one of the seed houses that are more biased towards the commercial or smallholding sector.

I have just had my delivery from Moles Seeds and the sweetcorn (F1 Swift) came in a 100g packet which equates to about 8 standard packets but at the cost of £4.55 which is less than the cost of two standard packs.

These seed houses are also much, much cheaper for things such as asparagus crowns and strawberry plants than the usual suspects.

Thanks for the link PW, don't know if I will ever need huge quantities of seed but sometimes it seems to be a right rip-off buying seed packets.
    Happy Gardening,

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
