  • Dehydrator choice help please.

I am in the very lucky position of being able to buy (after saving for it ) the dehydrator i have always wanted.

    the excalibur 9 tray one.
BUT, i have just seen, there is a new Sedona one, (which i have the money for).

Both have 5 year gaurantees with them.
My dilemma is do i go with the excalibur which has been around for ages OR
The new Tribest Sedona which is just been around for a couple of years.

Here are the links to both.

I really like the new one. I like that it is computerised and the controls are on the front. I like the door and the sealing around the door, i also like the fact that at the back there is a casing for the fuse that can be opened and changed should the fuse go.

I have read reviews online and watched youtube videos demonstrating both.

I have no idea if something goes wrong with it, would i have to send it back to the company i bought it from or to USA for excalibur or wherever for Sedona. I will be buying it from the company above.

I think i am going to get the new Sedona, but would welcome some advice especially about where to send it for repair(should i ever need to)

Thanking you in advance for taking the time to read and offering any help.

Its my birthday soon, so this is a gift to myself.

Sorry can't help as I'm more than happy with my cheapo Westfalia one which cost less than £30. Been using it for about 10 years now, sooooooo useful.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Could you ask the suppliers what the return arrangements are?

Thank you veggiechicken, i have just sent them a message, should hear back within 24 hours. I didnt even think to message them....doh...

Alison, thank you for your reply. I have wanted one of these for years and it has taken me quite a while to be able to afford it.
I know it (both) are very expensive. I feel a little bit guilty buying one of these, but as i say, its something that has taken me a long time to afford.

I know i will have to make a decision, but because they are so expensive, i want to make the right one.

        Thanks again

          Ohh....Just recieved an email back.
If something goes wrong with either machine, i send both back to the company.
The Excalibur one is fixed at the company and can be turned around in about a week.
The Sedona, the company will send it to Tribest in Leeds and it can be turned around in 2 - 3 weeks..... simply because, i send it to them, they send it to Tribest,.....whne fixed Tribest send it to them and they send it to me -)

Thats not bad at all and in fact has taken that worry completely away,

          Now which one.

also one of the things that Excalibur do better (and the only thing) as far as i have researched..is meat jerkys which i dont intend to do anyway,

Can anyone else, just even for fun, say which one they would go for if the money was there for either. Please please please :-)

Just if you could, which one would you get?

          Am getting excited now :-)

            Well, i have done it.
I ordered the Sedona one. I am actually shaking with excitement and about the cost, but i know i will use it a lot.

Should be here within 5 days.
I already have 3 books about dehydrating food, but understand i will have to gets used to whatever humidity is in the air here to get the timings right.
            I am gonna be busy.
