  • Big Bottoms

    Sorry I could not resist.

I am in the market for some large pot bottoms. I grow my tomatoes and peppers in flower buckets and am woefully short on trays for them.

Anyone seen any bargains anywhere? I guess they must be 10"+ diameter. I did get some cheap in Wilko the other year but really need to get another pile of them.

I use gravel trays that are big enough for 3+ buckets. Also, cheap washing up bowls are good as you have extra depth for water. I use all my old bowls this way - and I prefer the rectangular ones as they line up better in the GH.

Old roasting tins are good too. Browse around your local junk shop/jumble sales - you'd be amazed what you can pick up for 20p

I think the technical term you were looking for is "saucers", but not half as eye catching!!

If you have plenty of flower buckets, stand one inside the other with a spacer in the bottom of the outer pot so that it is lifted 2,3,4" off the bottom.
