  • Bargain beginner book

I went to the garden centre the other day looking for bargain seeds and instead came home with 'Practical allotments Paul wagland' from 'the works' bookshop. It was only £1.99 and full of projects such as building raised beds, compost heaps and even a shed! It's divided up into seasons and gives advise on what should be done when.

Thought it was a right bargain.

He doesn't post much any more: got fed up with the flack chucked his way, I think. He's organic, and a lot of people take exception to organic ideas, esp the "peat" issue

The best thing about that book, is it's based around "real" allotments. The other books I have, all the plots are neat, tidy, weed free - nothing like most allotments It's a refreshing honest change.

Went looking for this book in my local "Works". Sadly they didn't have it but amongst all the gardening books was this book:

Inside Apple The Secrets by Adam Lashinsky | cheap Business Books at The Works

Made me smile as they'd obviously gone on the cover title not the content!
