It's OK.... it's my SIL.... she is just doing my head in, and after reading her FB status, I'm really mad. Can't comment on it on FB cos I'll get myself into trouble!! :P

                  Now I have calmed down....

My SIL is a single mum, on benefits. She is 20, with 2 kids under 3.

We constantly get told how hard it is for her; and how difficult she finds dealing with the kids 24/7. She gets a lot of support from her mum (my MIL) who up until this weekend actually lived with her - MIL helped with the cleaning, cooking, washing, looking after the kids etc (and works a full time job). The help also included financial help, so MIL would buy food and help with bills etc.

SIL has had a tantrum over the weekend (caused by MIL having a jolly good clean up of the house) and has 'thrown' her mum out (MIL isn't homeless, she has gone to live with her sister).

All we have heard over the weekend is about this, and the fact that SIL is so hard done by etc etc.

I have kept my mouth shut, as I can think of lots and lots of mums who would love the kind of support SIL was getting.

However, her FB status today (reproduced below, sorry about the spelling etc) made me see red...

SIL: fed up of dealing with grown up problems i wana b young again sum ppl dnt no how lucky they r nt to have big responsabilitys like paying all the bills buying all the shopping having 2 kids to support , sum ppl can just go out n av fun

Her circumstances are of her own making. No-one made her have a baby at 17, and then a 2nd one at 19; she has been offered tons of support by everyone, but seems to want to wallow in her own misery on purpose....

Of course, if I say anything, then I'm picking on her; and making it hard for her....

Thank goodness she isn't my ACTUAL sister!!!

Rant away, OWG, that would drive me nuts too. And to throw her own mother out then moan about having to deal with the consequences is awful. OK, living with relatives can't be easy and if forced to live with my mum I'd probably feel like throwing her out (or under a bus) after a week, but I (probably) wouldn't do it. It must be hard for the rest of the family too, who are presumably hard working and responsible and getting no credit for acting like grown ups whilst still having to pussy-foot around this particular one. I struggle with in-laws too, they seem to have a completely different set of values to my own family, I sometimes wonder if OH was a foundling.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

OWG I don't know how you
                      A: didn't slap her
B: send her on obligatory spelling and English course

(and that is from some one who can not spell for toffee)

I was a single Mum for a good few years, the boys were 1 and 3 when my ex left. I was so grateful for all the help I received from my family. Admittedly I wouldn't have wanted to live with my Mum!! We would have murdered each other

Sounds like she needs a good slap and be told to grow up

Also, if she has so much work to do in the form of childcare/shopping/bill paying how has she found the time to be mucking about on facebook?

I too was ranting and raving or your family's behalf. I let of a bit of steam in my reply to you but I must have produced too much cos my post just went up in a puff of smoke. I think I pressed 'enter' instead of submit.
Your position is unbearable. You're devilled if you do enter the conflict and you're devilled if you don't.

Oh, sounds a lot like my sister and she's not even an in-law. I'm forever being told how 'lucky' I am. Like somebody surgically implanted all those kids in her (also two before the age of 20) and a third by I think 26. Brought up on benefits and cash in hand work. I also can't moan on facebook, when she's telling her own kids to eff off and swearing, then laughing about her 16yr old daughter getting legless (and I do mean legless, passing out kind off stuff).

You rant away, OWG. I feel your pain.

Sounds like my aunt... only she's childless, 48 and can't understand why folks do not dance around her all the time.
