My first rant of the year...

I don't go to our nearest Wyvale much because I always leave feeling either disappointed by the lack of actual gardening stuff, or ripped off because it seems so expensive. So usually I get stuff from the sheds or order online. But today I went to spend my vouchers from my December birthday and Christmas. I invested in an overpriced stainless steel border spade (my last one snapped off where the wooden handle meets the metal) and three bags of John Innes no 1 (the local DIY superstore didn't have any).

I could tell the compost had been in stock for a while because the printing on the bags had faded. Never mind, probably still OK. But then when I got home, one of the bags came apart while taking it out of the boot. Obviously it was such old stock that the glue had given up. Mess to clean up.

Then when I started to use the border fork, it didn't feel quite right. Closer inspection showed that the wooden handle is out of alignment with the tines. Spear and Jackson used to have a reputation for quality, it's such a shame. The fork does have a guarantee on it though, I will have to take some pictures and write to them.

As usual, feeling disappointed and ripped off.

Just been going round in circles on Bosch site trying to register my shredder for extended warranty.

Got to check Canon later for cash back progress. Need a break!

It sounds as if we’re all having bad experiences at the mo. I needed to pay a mobile phone bill where the dd had failed. The site not only is down but also their phone systems. Really not good for a phone company. And it’s my sons business phone.

Several bills need paying and the banks site is also down. Aaaaargh.

I spent 4 hours trying to deal with this and gave up when it was time to go to my hairdressers. See chat thread for that one.

Unless you need bells and whistles like child controls there's plenty of good free security software. Haven't purchased any for about twenty years.

Hmm, I'm not sure who gets the short straw?? I've had more kids "sleep over" this Christmas than ever before..... huge amounts of bedding to be washed, and marathon cooked breakfasts...yesterday I was also making tea as they were all still stranded! Another 4 here this evening

I must be mad .......love it!

Managers who allow staffing to drop to under 50%, then come back from their month long holiday and complain that the ‘to do list’ has grown!

^^ Well, since I posted my latest post, the tidying has come to a halt, but he did say he'd sort out another of his junkyards (he has three plus odd patches of overspill) after he's finished the one he's currently trying to deal with.
