  • has anone used one of these to repel animals?

OH is thinking of getting one to repel the deer - sort of belt and braces as they keep finding ways in through the fencing.

    An ultrasonic animal repeller?

I've used the ones for household pests (no, not husbands, mice etc) and have to say they are of limited use. Outdoor versions may be better.

The magnetic rat repellers seem to protect wiring from nibblers (which can include squrrels), but they don't do much to keep them out of the house........

Sorry Jane, but they don't work. I tried it all.

We got some at work to keep rats away from a diesel generator and one of my colleagues got a perforated eardrum after forgetting to switch them off before testing the generator.

From what I've heard, they only work at all if you're driving over 35mph. If you're driving that fast, the deer has limited time to get away anyhow and I never drive at that speed on the lanes I use. I prefer to rely on my eyes and am very skeptical about these.

I use a cat one in the garden, not sure how well they work but I've not had any cat poo since it went in.

I also have them in the house, again no mice since they were put in but that could also be because I've finally found all the holes they were coming in or the preventative poison I put down

Don't believe the non audible to humans though, I can hear the whines and clicks that come from them especially the cat one in the garden

hmmmmm interesting. I have cats and chickens so don't want to repel them, but think you put it on different frequencies for different animals?. It's for the pesky deer. They have got in AGAIN and we don't know where from this time. It was an idea to use this to try and repel them from the boundarys, as well as fencing them out.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
