  • Give it 24 hours

Well today I visited the last allotment site in my area (already visted the others - long lists)

They have quite small plots (they've split alot of them so that more people can get one) and a reasonable turnover (couple years waiting ish)

Only problem I'm not local enough to get on the list

I'm gonna take 24 hours to stew and formulate then I can feel a campaign coming on.

First stop the rules and regulations in Scotland about Councils responsibilities

There's a couple of fields not that far from me that would suit me down to the ground

How many allotments do you get per acre?

Then again I might just win the lottery tonight and set up my own site

    I can dream

Lizzy are you registered with the Landshare website? I received an email stating sometime around Spring they would contact people about available land. Forget Glasgow City Council (I mentioned on a previous thread there was possible allotment vacancies), although some of the allotments are advertised as having no waiting lists - they do Also cannot be given out to anyone not living in Glasgow.

One Acre= 43,560 sq. feet = 160 sq. rods (rd)

        one rod=16.5 feet

        full allotment is generally 10rods x 1 rod ( I think)

Tis too early in te morning for me to do sums!

Here's and earlier thread which may also help!...

          I'm with the landshare

I'm slightly addicted to the multimap page looking at arial and birdseye view trying to see any unkempt gardens (the pictures are about 18 months out of date though)

About a mile away is what was a large house now split up which had a walled garden looks to be about acre and a halfish and it's just grass GRASS what a waste

Keep looking at the arials views with all grass and blue trampolines and thinking what a waste
