  • Car Insurance advice needed!

    Hi
As someone who doesn't drive but pays for my daughters car insurance, I am finding this a real nightmare because I don't understand all of it. Last year I took out a fully comp insurance which turned out to be cheaper than the 3rd party one she had previously but find that this year it is due to go up by about £25. Could it have gone up because she had an accident whilst with her previous insurance company even tho it wasn't her fault?? She only claimed on the legal cover that she had with the previous company because it was an accident with a foreign lorry driver and the insurance company said they could not pursue it. Or is it just a general increase?

Also bearing in mind the accident, can I still put down that she has had no claims in the past four years when looking for a new insurer or does the legal cover count as a claim? So confused

to be honest £25 does not sound a unusual increase from a insurance company, having just renewed my insurance the company I have been with tried increasing mine by £75 even though I have over 10 years of no cliams, by shopping around I managed to find a policy £100 cheaper where I don't have to pay any voluntry Excess, plus by using one of the cash back sites I will get £25 back in 2 months time. The companies do not award you for sticking by them so its typically best to shop around

legal cover is usually a seperate issue however that should not effect no claims. re the accident you are supposed to declare as not declaring it could invalidate the insurance from giving false details

My renewal quote this year was £172 I thought this excessive so 15 minutes on the inter-netty + 5 minutes on the phone got it down to £85. 20 minutes work=£87 saving, that's £261 per hour, wish I could get a proper job at that rate

I should point out that the £25 pound increase is per month not annual.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
