  • Can I rant about my lawn here?

It's a quagmire! Just been outside and it was raining last night but it seems like half the lawn is inch thick mud, 1/4 is moss and 1/4 is grass.

Re-seeding is a nightmare with 2 children and a dog running around, can't afford turf and I'm tempted to pave the whole thing

    Argh!!!

Hey Gryfon, ive got the same problem here ..........i tried re seeding last year but this year its all patchey again, i have two dogs and i think they are killing the grass by weeing on it! someone said put tomato sauce in their food as it changes the chemical balance but that doesnt seem to work
oh well at least weve got a nice place to grumble here!!

Thanks! I don't think my dog tearing up the garden after any bird/cat which has dared to venture into the greenhouse helps!

I might attempt fencing bits off whilst the grass grows. I'm sure I heard somewhere that when you let your dog out to follow her around and water where she's weed...although when it's dark it's a tad bit difficult!

Girl dogs kill the grass more than boy dogs, its the estrogen (sp?) in the urine that kills the grass.

We looked after a friend's bitch for a couple of weeks in the summer, and where she had been, the grass was dead and brown.

Where our boy goes, it's fine.

Apparantly there's a spray you can buy that somewhat neutralises the urine, not sure how good it is though.

Or, keep a watering can handy and give where they have been a little sprinkle to dilute the urine (needs doing as soon as they've been really)

**Oh no, how do I know so much about dog wee??**

I fully understand Gryfon. My lawn is just about ready to plant rice!
