After recent events with my Dad, I asked my GP if he thought it would be a good idea if I had my cholesterol tested - he agreed (although at 32 he said I was young, but given family history and all that...), so I had my blood taken last week, and went in this morning for the results...

Despite my best efforts, my liver is in very good condition. I am not diabetic and my cholesterol which, whilst slightly high at 6 is no cause for concern. My blood pressure is still slightly elevated (got it down to 148/96 on the second reading). My "good" cholesterol is pretty good at 1.16 apparently...

Net result, just keep eating a good diet, do plenty of exercise and go and see him again in a year. How cool is that!?

I even had Classic FM on in the car on the way to try and woosah a bit!

That's great news HW! Don't worry too much about your BP , quite often it's elevated when checked cause you're worrying about what its gonna be!
My BP's always been fine, around 110/60 ish however my heart rate is always very fast at around 100 bpm, I used to smoke so put it down to that but I gave up 10 years ago and its still fast and as I'm fairly fit and healthy in every other way, I've come to the conclusion that it is just "normal for me".
Apples and garlic are good for lowering the cholesterol.
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

Funnily enough, he said the same thing about the BP. The reading I had last week was 158/110 - but that was taken straight after she'd stuck a ruddy great needle in my arm!

I eat plenty of garlic, could eat more apples. Maybe there's something in the "apple a day" thing then...

My biggest failing is not doing enough CV work. I haven't been to the gym in months. Lady HW and I are going to get a cross trainer after Christmas so there'll be no excuse for getting a good half hour/ hour exercise in every day.

        Thanks, by the way!

Good luck zeb. I didn't think it'd bother me, but you know how the mind starts...

            Sure you'll be fine!

Dad's fine thanks Hazel, last time I saw him (Friday lunchtime) he was cleaning the glasses in the glass cabinet to keep himself occupied. He's still an ex-smoker and it's not really bothering him. One thing that is bothering him, is having to turn work away (he's a mechanic by trade), but he realises he can't really do the "lugging about" that he did before - at least not yet a while.

Mums cooking.... Now that's a different story. I don't think it'll ever change, but Dad went to see a dietician last week (which he was a bit sceptical about), so I tried to encourage him and tell him to do little changes, bit by bit and he'd soon not even notice.

It does make me laugh when we (lady HW and I) cook dinner for them (Ma & Pa), we'll say that we're cooking something and Mum will say something along the lines of "oh, your Dad won't like that!", we serve it up and low and behold, Dad devoures the lot!!

He's on the road to recovery though, that's the main thing.

I bought one last January, it sits in my office and whenever I start to feel cold/in need of away from pooter time I jumps on the little darling and does me 30 mins CV.

Also it faces my office window which faces my garden so .... seeing a pattern here?

Really rate it HW - you won't regret it

                              Good news all round HW!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
