  • Greenhouse- General Question

Morning - Ive just about finished building my 6X8 greenhouse. I went for toughened glass and was wondering how many W-clips should I be using per pane for the sides and roof. Panes are in the region of 600mm X 1150mm. Was wondering if 6 per pane would suffice as instructions dont state how many.
    Thanks in advance!

On mine I used two each side so four per pane total. The top lip is held down by the pane above so they remain pretty secure. Apart from a stone flung from a petrol rotary mower there have been no issues in a number of years (about 5 iirc).

4 per pane as above. Our greenhouse is 35 years old and three panes have broken (footballs). The galvanised W clips eventually rust away. Stainless are far better.. I had to replace ALL the clips in 35 years..

on 2ft x 2ft glass, I use a minimum of 2 w clips per side, i.e. 4 clips per pane. Your panes of glass are roughly twice the size but are "one piece" so 3 per side should be enough. Bear in mind though that toughened glass sheets that size will be expensive to replace if broken so don't skimp on clips. A few quid on clips now could save you a fair bit in the long run.
