Last year I planted loads of seeds of what I later discovered to be the 'wrong type' of marigold (ie not african). They are called 'soucis' here and are about 60cm tall with chrysanth type flowers in various shades of yellow and orange. They do smell quite strongly but, and most importantly;
caterpillars love them
Almost every flower has a caterpillar in it. When I look at all those wriggly little munchers and think how they would otherwise be scoffing my brassicas I thought I would post on here.
They seem to be perennials because lots of the flowers have come from last years plants but they have also self seeded liberally. I will post collected seeds on the seed swap when I have them if anyone is interested.
