Oca propagation question?

Having uprooted my Oca too early when they still had living shoots I cut those shoots into approx 5" sections and put them in water. Some of these shoots have sprouted mini ocas - I think! They have tiny roots on them too. Here is a very poor photo! I intend to let them grow on a bit and see what happens. One Ocarette has already fallen off and is in a pot of soil. Is this another way of propagating them, perhaps by taking the shoots off while the oca is still growing? Any thoughts?
