  • Leggy Salvia

I have perennial salvia in a container and it is spreading well, but seems to be quite leggy - lots of leaves on long stems, but only one flower stem. Shall I cut it back to encourage flowers?

Might be cutting off potential flowers...? Why not do a mini Chelsea chop ie cut back a bit and that might encourage it to bulk up a bit.

If you are giving them a trim Flo, why not nip out their growing tips and see if you can root them. I know it’s a bit early but you may have some success with that as well….

I've been rooting a few different salvias in water over the past couple of weeks. They are all of a similar type to Hot Lips, if you know that one. Amazingly quick to root! Worth trying this with your one Florence, easy as anything.
