I got my Welsummer eggs from Penkridge Market, but they're the big ones (I think!) and Penkridge is a bit too far away for you isn't it!

i am planning on hatching some welsummer bantams just as soon as my girls go broody.Anyone know where i can buy the fertile eggs?I need good laying bantams you see as the large girls have to much impact on my garden.I have had welsummer bantams before and they are friendly and good layers.

I candled mine last night, could see a good air sac in 9 of them, possibly 11, 3 look as if they haven't got anything in but as Lynda said earlier, she thought some of hers were empty but got chicks from them and the ones that she thought were good, weren't. It's all exciting stuff
Got the "chookarium" all set up and sort of sorted, just trying to get the temperature stabilised now. Will post a pic later (when I've tidied up round it!)

How did you lose them one by one bluemoon? Did they hatch?
I have 6 light sussex in the inccy as well as the faverolles and will be gutted if I lose the lot!
Were they ebay eggs?

I've collected some from the girls and set them on the 19th (turned the darn heat up this time). Just 6 to see if they're fertile yet, they should be some light sussex pure breeds and some BR/sussex X's. Not getting my hopes up too high (chick crumb at the ready) as it is early in the season and they are all still young and may have not got the hang of this mating thing yet.
OMG I have just realised they are due to hatch on Friday the 13th (how's that for bad planning)

I'm into double figures now
Day 10 at my house ................................. well actually day 10 and a half, so exactly half way now. Just want to be able to see something moving in the shells so I know whether to go and buy some chick food! The shells are really dark though, so it's a bit difficult
