They increased the rents in Feb 2008 by 80%. I discovered later that year that the new rent for a half plot had been set at 34.30 and a whole plot at 50. I pointed out that was not fair and asked that the rent for a half plot be set at 25. Instead, they amalgamated a water charge of 1.05 and increased the rent for a full plot to 70 and for a half plot to 35 in Feb 2009.

Just had a quick back read are you saying at the beginning of this thread that they put the rent up of full plots so that the half plots stayed the same rent !!! Ours are only 20.25P for a half plot no rent was put up to double the amount they were halved and over 60's get a 20% discount, full, half or quarter plot.
Good luck with this, hope you win and get to keep your plot, this is crazy.

Got to try not to be too cocksure of myself although I am totally confident in my arguments. The Council has to fight me because otherwise, everyone else will stop paying rent, will claim back what they have already paid and the Council will have huge costs in putting their allotments admin on the correct footing.Originally posted by Bigmallly View PostHeyup AP, what's with the negative vibes?
p.s. My plot is slowly and surely being planted up including my show stuff

You are going to win.
Otherwise we all come up for a 'camp in' in your support and as a protest of their unjust behaviour.
That should frighten em off!

Serious side to the concept though, I have two sheds, two glasshouses and a polytunnel between the three greenhouses and if they think I'll be leaving anything if this case goes against me they will have to think again. Mind you so will I. My plots are on steeply sloping ground which is very greasy and dangerous when wet. I've imported and laid over 100 slabs to make pathways with safe footing. I really don't fancy pushing that lot uphill. It was hard enough work pushing them on the way down.

Just read this thread from start to finish! I was getting quite stressed there before the adjournment, can't imagine how you felt Aberdeenplotter!
But all the way thru I'm thinking.........and whichever way the verdict goes - who gets custody of the brussel sprouts!
Best of luck - and may the force (the biodynamic organic) force be with you! Ali

Remember guys, I only became involved at the forefront of this thing because I won a trophy put up by an organisation our Council sent a document to, that contained details of rent increases already approved. One of the committee of that organisation sent me a copy of that document. I couldn't contact the other allotment holders in the City because The Council restricted access to the statutory Register of allotment tenancies under the mistaken view that data protection laws prevented them giving access. I had to take on the responsibility myself. I'm normally a shy little wallflower(and a lying git as well) who prefers to enjoy his allotment as we all do and this whole carry on (infamy infamy)has spoiled that for the moment. I'm confident it will all come good and it will also be good for the Council
