Whatever do the new “status dots” under your username mean?

As per the title, does anyone know what this is? The little dots/lines under your username that look like battery level indicators?

I wonder I feel it might be eventually to do with 'privileges'....like being able to post piccies after a certain number of posts like we had on the old Vine?
No doubt time will tell.
