  • fruit bushes

Last year i bought rasberry, blueberry, blackberry, cranberry and another fruit bush ( can't think what it was now ) i planted all of them in large pots but only the blackberry seems to be doing anything, the cranberry bush has done ok but hasn't given any fruits. I knew i wouldn't get any fruits for the first year, but thought maybe i'd have had a bit of new growth by now?

It looks as though i've got some twigs and stuck them in pots!!!

Can anyone tell me if anything is gonna happen with these "twigs" or wether to give up on them and try again this year.

If you want to know if they're still alive you can gently scratch the surface of one of your "twigs"...if it's green underneath then it's still living & will probably start growing as the weather heats up.
It's amazing how much growth they can do in a short space of time...our raspberries are dutifully cut down almost to the ground right now,but I'm sure given just a few months they'll be the same giants they were last year!Good Luck with them!

donyt worry too much, my blackcurrant are just showing signs of life, my goji berrys look like twigs but they will come alive soon........bit of a cold start for them, so they may be a little behind.
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

Just after I got my plot ( sep 07 ) a neighbour gave me some blackcurrrant sticks that had been pruned. he said ' you do this, this, this, and stick em in the ground I gave him a funny look cos I had no idea what he was talking about and he said ok I'll do it for you, he got out his little knife cut them and I stuck them in the ground. I thought yeah as if they are going to do anything lol I ended up eating my words I had a few blackcurrants and this year the growth is amazing, so try them and see what happens you will be surprised. I lost the gooseberry that he did the same with though lol
