All tied up....

Following from plenty of advice last week, I have tied in most of my new raspberry canes. I was going for a uniformly spaced and neat look, but have ended up with more of a 'raspberry cane car crash' type of affair. Anyway - now they are all tied up the runners are in excess of 6 ft in places. Do I need to take the tops off now, or later in the season? And, do I need to take them to the end height that I want, or a bit lower because re-growth will take them higher?

I shall go and tend my horse fly bites and thorn scratches whilst I wait for replies!

I think, whilst you were tying in the new growth, you could have cut out some of the more 'whippy' shoots. They will be quite weak, and not produce brilliant (if any) fruit.

I do find it difficult to 'stop' plants, particularly tomatoes and raspberries.
