I must be mad whent down the plot today.
raining a lot cleand the greenhouse in the rain well it needed doing and it will be the growing season soon
planted some late carrots today too in a booket so i can put them insided the greenhouse if needs be

#1borobob commented27-12-2007, 04:43 PMEditing a commentHi, I grow carrots and parsnips to show.I grow long carrots and parsnips in plastic tubes at least 4 or 5 inches in diameter.short carrots in buckets.I just fill the tubes with multi purpose compost,set 3 seeds in each pipe. when the seeds germinate take out 2 seedlings leaving the strongest to grow on.Growing stumpy carrots in buckets. I fill the bucket or similar container with sharp sand then dibble holes in the sand, fill the holes with multipurpose compost then continue as for the pipes. I am going to sow some this week and grow them in the greenhouse.I have never sown them this early before but I never have any big enough for the early shows.Tip from an old codger,Never sow old parsnip seed even if its a only year old,parsnips are very hard to germinate.
