How do I get to my leaf mulch at the bottom of the pile?

With compost you are supposed to turn it (although I haven't turned mine), and I presume the last "bin" is where you take the compost from - when it's all broken down and such.

Not sure I'm explaining myself well here...

Ok, when making my "leaf bin" to empty all the fallen leaves into I simply drove four stakes into the ground and then surrounded them with chicken wire forming a simple "basket". To open it up I simply unhook one of the sides and voila, my bin is open.

Trouble is, the stuff I want to get at is at the bottom.

Is it possible to make another bin at the side of your original bin, take the top layer off and put it in the new bin, then that way you can get to the good stuff at the bottom? And you have a spare bin for when you want to do it allover again...simples.

I just pile the non-rotted stuff on one side and get the good stuff out. We weren't so forward thinking with our bin though, ours is fixed solid all the way round. OH has to dangle me by the ankles to get to the bottom!!

With that very dilemma in mind Wayne, I've been storing mine in bin bags.

My bin bags all disintegrated (degradeable ones see). Went to pick them up and ended up with a handful of bin bag and nothing else.
