I've grown a few different varieties of 'beefsteak' tomatoes over the years and they always finish up all nobbly and segmented and usually get blossom end rot!
Anyone tried buying a large nicely shaped beefsteak tomatoe from Tesco's and pillaging the seeds?
At least they would be fresh,
but are they grown from F1's I ask myself?

so i fail to see why you couldn't try it with the big beefy ones? whether they will come true or not remains to be seen, but, i would think they would, i mean they are probably grown on masse, so not likely to be cross-pollinated? so only way to tell if they are f1's is grow em and see what happens.
