My wife and I have lots of different tomato seedling, growing in pots, awaiting transplanting. However, to my concern, I have noticed that quite a few of the leaves have dry looking, with white patches on them. Any ideas, anyone, please?

Are they under/ behind glass?
if so, my guess is scorch. It's not difficult for the direct sun to "burn" the leaves through glass when they are young and tender. It results in white-ish "papery" patches.
if this is the case, try and diffuse the sun (you can use thin white paper, for example).
in the long term, it should not cause any major problems, but don't let any more get damaged. -
Hello Zebedee, I agree with cutecumber. If it's just in patches did you splash the leaves with water then let the sun shine on them. This would scorch them. If that's the case the plants will be fine - just try not to do it again

Sounds like scorch. They need good light, but not direct sunlight through glass, specially if they've just been watered. Any drops left on the leaves act like magnifying glasses and sunlight burns holes in the leaves. Also, if they've been in their present pots for a few weeks they may need a liquid feed. Compost nutrients don't last forever.Comment
