Agree with all Seasprout's recommendations, especially Kings Seeds. Don't forget your local suppliers, garden centres and outlets such as Aldi and Lidl. They sell smaller packs of seeds, very reasonably priced (not always named varieties) but I have had very good results from them.

Just got to get me head around potato planting, first earlies, second earlies, first maincrop and maincrop ????. Who thought potatoes could be so difficult for a newbie. Thanks again for the effort you put in to that, Minty

I must tell you that I cut and copied a post from a poster called jondanie from May 2007, So credit where its due to this poster.

Would like to add that a company called www.moreveg.co.uk do smaller packets of stuff, though I've never used them myself as yet.

I mean who needs 500 cabbage seeds.

No problem, glad my earlier post was of some use. I think we should all read the latest Gardening Which review of seed quality from 15 UK seed suppliers. It makes for interesting reading. The quality of seed from some of the well known seed companies was shocking. Stick to the companies selling quality seed.

Personally, I think the T&M catalogue is hard to beat. Suttons catalogue isn't bad either.No experience of the others (and after reading the Which report, there's a few I won't be reading!)

Tucker's seeds have been in the local evening paper this very evening for selling"dead seeds."
I have always bought my seeds from them as they are local.Will give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again next year but I also like "Plants of Distinction" seeds which are guaranteed.

I got my plants of distinction veg and flower catalogue and its full of amazing stuff. I have already made a list.

I see they are still selling some flowers i bought last year which turned out less than impressive than the pictures.

will stick to veg this time.
