Thank you for your replys.
One more thing you may be able to advise on. The plot has a shed that isn't padlocked. There's some stuff in the shed, some of which I believe to be fairly pricey, a petrol cultivator. The lady who showed me around said she didn't know anything about it and it must have been left by the previous holder. I have some bits that I will be putting in the shed but I will want to padlock it. My concern is whoever has left their stuff in there may be a current holder who doesn't have their own shed so thought they would use the one on the empty plot. What's the normal etiquette with these things? Shall I lock it up untill someone asks me for the stuff, or should I be more proactive and ask around. I'm concerned if I just lock it and wait it may be viewed that I'm trying to keep it for myself. But I'm also a cynic and worry if I ask people if it's theirs they may just say yes so they can have it.

Just lock it, it’s your shed now and anyone using it to store their stuff in will have to come to you and ask for it. I don’t think anyone would risk storing their stuff on a vacant plot anyway - the cultivator probably belonged to the previous tenant, and they decided they had no use for it once they gave up the plot.He-Pep!

Usual etiquette is that previous plot holders have x amount of time to collect their stuff. There's often a scene a bit like a doors opening on a January sale on our site if there is a gap between old plot holders leaving and new plot holders arriving... Good luck with it...sigpic

Been hoping for free p&p, missed out a few weeks ago - we were in Cyprus, where we saw some 'Fernleaf' lavender. Looks really nice. So I thought I'd look for some plugs/plants when we got back. Seems that you start them from seed, only a few places do them. T&M had them for 99p though, but with...Lavender 'Oregano' - Kew Collection Seeds from Thompson & Morgan - experts in the garden since 1855Today, 10:17 AM
