  • God I'm Impatient

I spoke with the contact from a site on Monday and he confirmed that they have plots availble if I'm okay clearing the brambles etc, which isn't an issue. He took my details and said he would get back to me and arrange a suitable time for me to come down and have a look.

It's now Thursday and without wanting to seem desperate I'm considering politely texting him to see if I can pop over at the weekend for a look.

okay..I am desperate to get started on clearing the site and I'm hoping I can get something in the ground by May.

I think I'd be on the blower as I'd be wanting to put spuds in very very soon.....

I'm sure the contact will want it clearing ASAP. He may have genuinely forgotten, give him a bell.

Those who shout the loudest is the best way to go I would have thought.

Your not being desperate just eager to crack on !

"Hi there, I'm going to be at a loose end on Saturday morning... Would that be a good time to pop over and see the plots?"

You could even try for a "I'm really keen tog et started, is it worth me bringing some tools along to get digging?" in a light hearted tone and see what's said.

You could phone him and ask if you'd missed his phone call cos you'd lost your phone or something.....and then casually drop into the conversation how keen your are to get to work on those brambles.

Well I called him this morning and he's busy this weekend and will contact me when he's available and cannot commit to a date.

Sounds to me that he's not that desperate for his society to rent these overgrown plots so I'll start the hunt for another site whilst I wait.

How odd. I'd have thought he'd be aware that if you need to clear a plot you need to start pronto since we're fast approaching the time where things need to be going into the ground.
Sounds all kinds of useless to me but there you go.

Good luck with the ongoing hunt.

This is a snippett from something I was reading. Not sure if it's near you as I just went by your location.

"There are allotments to rent in Seven Kings and Goodmayes with sites in Vicarage Lane South, Benton Road, Wards Road, (all off Ley Street) and behind Poole’s Court flats in Goodmayes Lane. Click the link on the left for a map. Car parking is available on or near all allotment sites".

That's a shame Crosby, I think I'd look elsewhere as well, I understand that people have arrangements made...but it sound like you've been given the run around sorry to say, I wish you well in your search for somewhere you can call your own.

Why do people do this!!!! Call and say they will arrange something then never follow it up.

If he is that busy then he shouldn't be in the position of allocating.

I know, especially when I asked if that would be next week or the week after and I was just told that he would call me. If one of my staff treated inquires like this they would be on the sharp end of some verbal re-training.

Unfortunately the Goodmayes society has a year waiting list.

I'll now be a good patient person, realise that people have their own lives to get on with and wait for the phone call from this guy...grumble grumble grumble
