  • Is this fox damage?

I have a 4 x 6 block of sweetcorn and in the last week something has eaten at least ten of the cobs in situ, I'm in SE London, so the only thing I can think of is foxes... Could it be?

The allotment is in Lewisham, a very built up area, so I doubt if it is a badger. I suppose if it is foxes, they have developed their taste buds from wheelie-bin waste

More than likely badgers! Like foxes they have an eye to the main chance. An electric fence will keep them out.

I would have thought a badger would have ripped the lot off rather than peel it like a banana, looks more like a tree rat to me.

Rats love sweetcorn too, although they usually take them away to eat in secret (under my shed)

last year the badger had a go at the netting around mine,so surrounded it with chicken wire, then a 2 legged RAT squashed it down and stole 2 thrds of the cobs of my 40 plants, this year have built a wooden frame and the chicken wire is now fastened to it,BUT after reading this thread i will throw a net over the top,we have squirrels and would not like them to get at them,so thanks for to tip on this

I'd put my money on squirrels. Rats with fancy tails and good PR.
