Hiya peeps, after the council decided to run a new communal path at the top of our plot we've been left wide open so need to get some fencing up. What I'm worried about is there's a large family of badgers that have been causing problems on other plots, even getting through fencing etc. Before we decide what type of fencing to put up has anyone got any tips as to which type might be most difficult for badgers to destroy or any other tips for dealing with em...so cute but they're not wrecking my plot!

I'm afraid that as far as I know, electric fencing is the only way with badgers.
Make sure you don't grow sweetcorn...they utterly adore it and will come back year after year to your plot looking for it!

We had one once on our plot and it dug a hole big enough to bury a bath in!!!

My sister gets badgers in her garden as long as she leaves peanuts out for them to eat, they don't dig holes.Comment

Unless you build a brick wall you will not stop the badgers! They are very strong creatures and quite capable of ripping through wooden fences if they put their minds to it. But before going through they will burrow under! The only real option (unless you want to replicate the Maginot Line!) is to deter them with light fencing or put up with the limited damage they do.Comment

Yes, I've read that feeding them stops them stealing what you want to keep! Looks like you need to make peanut butter sarnies every night then! They will probably be more of a nuisance now when the have little ones to feed...Originally posted by treepixie View PostComment

Ooh er Penny. Badgers are little devils. They munched through my sweet corn last year and I couldn't work out how they'd got into it over my netting. Probably stood on each others shoulders. The only saving grace was the cobs were tasteless due to awful weather that's probably why they only take 2 bites from each one and leave it. I'm in two minds if I should grow it this year! You battle animals, bugs,weather,failure ... And we still go back for more ha ha. We're all nuts.Comment
