Default Snail Teeth?

How's this for a scary pic. I took of a snail as it crawled up the outside of the window. It looks as though he's got a fair set of teeth so it's no wonder they do so much damage!

Definitely looks like an alien - dont like the look of those teeth at all - think you should call Sigourney Weaver in to deal with it!¬!!

Shame they are not its teeth! They actually have 1,000s of tiny ones like files to grind up leaves. Look here for really scary info. www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/.../rhsnail.html

Snails have a rasp like structure called a radula thatis moved up and down rasping off small particles as it moves along. This radula is like a ribbon of teeth. Soldierfire

I don't care what he was using to eat my plants with ( personally I think they get out knives & forks, tablecloths & seasonings the way they treat my garden like a restaurant!), I still thought it was a bit scary looking at his underside so close up.I do quite like snails though, just wish they weren't so destructive.

Great pic SueA, worthy of a place in a scientific manual really.

Snails aren't my cup of tea Alice ( or my piece of cake either!). I remember going to Belgium with my school when I was 10 & the teachers ordered snails & one offered me a bite, it was disgusting, like chewing burnt garlicky rubber! Perhaps that's why I'm 'almost veggie' now (still like a nice piece of salmon).
