| All week we have had hard frosts at night and lovely clear sunny days. It was -5 and foggy in the midlands at lunchtime yesterday, but lovely and balmy in Dublin (maybe 7 degrees?) and sunny and calm. After another hard frost last night, another beautiful sunny, calm day today. High pressure is causing havoc with the UK TV signal though - usually only a high summer problem.....(hope I can actually watch Masterchef tonight and not just have fuzzy lines....) |
| |||
| Dull, grey and windy today but feeling milder. In spite of rain being forecast we have had none yet.

| Well there's lots of blue sky between fluffy clouds today (after a clear night but dull start). Temp is 8 degrees (was only 2 yesterday lunchtime) and the snow has gone again. Only a light breeze. The kind of day that I'd love to be digging..... |

| Saturday, it BUCKETED down in Dublin. Yesterday, we saw a strange yellow orb in the sky for the morning (unfortunately someone broke the lock on lottie gate!! grrrr) but it turned cool, cloudy and breezy by mid afternoon and BUCKETED down again last night. (So much so that there were road closures for flooding in North Dublin - luckily not affecting me!!). Today, I am looking at glorious sunshine out my office window ![]() |
| |||
| Freezing cold today with showers of hail. In the afternoon we had thunder. Afterwards it all dried up and the sun came out and a lovely bright sunny evening. So many changed in the one day.

| Having had the weather coming from the north since Saturday, the winds changed over the past 24 hours. (The planes were landing on a path over our house, so wind coming from north - but were taking off going south this morning, so wind must be that way too!!). And much milder today than earlier this week - have been brave enough to put tomatoes back into minigreenhouse today (had to bring them in since Sat into house again). Sorry - forgot to add that it is dry but dull with small patches of blue in the sky this morning. But expected to change (to wet but warm I was told) later today. | Cold - think about 8 degrees today - and wet. The horrible drizzly wet that gets everywhere, frizzes your hair, but isn't proper rain....At least it is not windy anymore - there was a wicked easterly wind during the week which was cold and very strong. |
| |||
| Today, after a long period of fine, warm sunny weather, and drizzle and cold yesterday (about 14 degres), we have grey skies with the sun valiantly making its presence felt, the ground is drying and its about 14 degrees already I think - maybe a couple more. As long as it stays dry on Sunday night for Bruce Springsteen outdoors - but lots of rain overnight the next 2 would be good too as the plants really need it. |

| Mixed weather over the weekend, but pretty reasonable overall (dry, cold easterly wind for a lot but some sun mixed in too). Yesterday was wet, wet, wet and very cold (10 degrees!). Today is not quite as cold (but definitely not even warm) and the rain has stopped temporarily, but the ground isn't drying ou t yet and it is still grey and dull. Oh well, the veggies did all need a darn good soaking! |

| Having had a dull start to last Friday, it turned el scorchio by mid-morning (and me on the plot with no sunscreen and the only long sleeves being a heavy trackkie top!!). It has remained hot and sunny all weekend (I think it hit 24 degrees yesterday in our garden) and this morning is warm already with plenty of sun (a few tiny, very high flat white clouds are present also - no chance of rain though I'd say). Almost no wind either, which makes a nice change after all that easterly stuff which was bloomin' cold for about a month!! |
| |||
| I should have known I'd jinx myself!! Today sees a return of the wet stuff. It's cold (about 14 degrees max) and it started raining about 10.30am and hasn't stopped since (although the radar is showing that band moving northwards across the country, so it should stop later this evening). It is quite calm though, so walking under a brolly isn't quite as bad as normal. Ah sure, the veg patches all needed it...... |

| Rained the whole day on Saturday. Woke up to torrential rain and gale force winds on Sunday morning. Rain stopped about 2 o'clock but wind continued. Checked my outdoor toms today and two had blown right over. Staked them back up but it could have been much worse.

| I can hear the wind gusting outside - around 30mph at least - not looking forward to seeing whats left of my plastic greenhouses in the morning even though the frames are tied to numerous cement blocks and the plastic itself is tied to and held down by more cement blocks! This is exactly why I don't grow cus and alot of other stuff outside - midsummer indeed ![]() |

| Yet more rain. It's cool (about 16 degrees) and the sun is (just in the past 5 mins) trying to come out from behind the clouds. It is continuing to rain though. Great for the plants, but I really need to get weeding (couldn't seee the tomatoes last weekend!!) |
| |||
| Weather here a lot better than yesterday. No rain and a bit of sunshine but temp still down considering its July. My first toms just turning red in the greenhoust-at last.

| And then it rained all Friday afternoon and evening, and a lot of Saturday. And some of Sunday (although we did see some sun on Sunday afternoon). Monday - mainly cloudy and dry but it lashed rain at lunchtime. Yesterday, the sun peeped out for about 20 minutes, but it did stay dry all day. Today, it was drizzly when we woke (about 6.30am) and has descended rapidly into wet, dull, wintery weather. Currently only 13 degrees and the forecast is for one month's worth of rain to fall today alone!! (And the local authority was running water conservation ads this morning!!!). |
| |||
| Weather a little better today though not by much. It is'nt raining at the mo and i can see some blue sky where the sun is trying to peep out among the grey clouds. As for the last few days. More of the same, grey skies, showers andcomplete dullness. Temp today is 15deg.

| Rain here too - most of June and all of July so far. No sign of blight on the potatoes, yet - but give it time. First tomatoes STILL not red in the tunnel. We bought a max min thermometer for the tunnal yesterday - I'll be able to give you figures (not that I expect they will be very cheering) |

| It is not too bad in Dublin today - the sun shone for a good portion of the morning, it was 16 degrees at about 11am, and although it's now gone cloudy again, it's a high and relatively white kinda cloud (although dense enough to blot out all blue). Forecast for this week doesn't look too bad though. |
