  • Any advance?

the thermometer has recorded -10C for the last two nights and the daytime temperature has not risen above freezing. The chickens won't come out and the rabbits water has to be de-frosted every couple of hours. Perhaps we are paying for the mild weather so far!

    And now snow is forecast

Snow here already I can't beat your temperatures but it hasn't been above freezing for about 3 days and I've even been browsing the Damart catalogue for thermal underwear

I've just locked up my chooks for the night- and given them some warm water whilst they're sitting on their perches. I'm having to give them warm water twice a day and it's frozen within hours.
Mine are happy to be out in the frost- but there's only the pellets they can eat- plus warm mash. I'm still getting 2-4 eggs a day .
      Snow...that'll be interesting for them!
(-10C here too and black ice everywhere on the roads!!)
( oh and we're having probs getting fuel for the central heating tank this side of Xmas!!)

Met Office have changed their mind, the snow is going to continue until Sunday Chickens still won't come out so have had to feed and water them in their house. Dug the snow away from round the house and pushed the facture (post man) up the chemin (lane) when he got stuck Can't get the car out so it will be on foot to the village this afternoon.

I've just been watching a neighbour towing his daughter on a sledge behind his LandRover! (Bit dangerous don't ya think???)
Still- it looked fantastic fun for her!

My chooks have finally decided to wander around in the snow. The sun is shining and it feels quite warm (1C in the shade) ...sort of got a ski holiday feel about the weekend
