The seed splits in the middle and the shoot will come from centre of the kidney shape. I've never had a problem with which way up they go in the ground. On end or side.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

They find their own way - gravity is amazing stuff. However, I sow mine longways down if that makes sense.

Just shove them in and don't worry about it - they're pretty reliable and almost always come up right

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Never analysed it - just dropped them in the planting hole.

To be honest never thought about it just push em in the compost.

The only ones I have any had any problem with was White Lady which seemed prone to turning to mush. Did them in root trainers last year and got much better results.

I think I have put mine in every which way this time just to see what happens. They are all in big seed cells.

I tried a tray of broadies recetly, some scar up, some scar down. They all come up over the same period of 24 hours!

I have! Some of them grow "upside down". I'll try and load a photo later

When you germinate beans on paper, as I often do, the root come out of the scar and goes straight out, so I sow scar down, or root down if I have germinated on paper.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
