btw, you don't have to have a dedicated, solely-vegetable plot. Many plants look fabulous mixed into a flower border: climbing beans up a wigwam or trellis; ruby chard; lettuce etc.

I grow my crimson flowered broad beans and salmon flowered peas (and some climbing beans) in amongst the flower beds. Looks good!

thanks for the thread link... lots of useul advice... I will I think be investing in a book or two to help.....or trying the tried and trusted method of 'plant it and see'
