  • Solent Wight Garlic

I bought the other day some garlic of www.sutton.co.uk and received them today. As I opened the garlic bulb I noticed that a few of the garlic cloves was really rotten and mouldy and the other cloves that appeared fine seem to of sprouted in the bulb. My other garlic bulb was fine but some of the cloves had sprouted.

Has anyone else had the same problem from them?

I'd send your photos to their customer services and ask for replacements.

They don't have a email address. But I could contact them on there website and told them I have photo's of it and want a replacement.
They shouldn't be sprouting in the bulb should they?

You will not get decent bulbs off them this year.
You may do better with "Picardy Wight" next year as it withstands the cold better.
            Someone may know different.

Feed the soil, not the plants.

IMHO they shouldn't be selling them this late ...

That won't matter, once planted they will romp away, but it means that it is well overdue for being planted and will have wasted some energy trying to grow ...

Onions / Garlic are on a day-length calendar, so planting late just doesn't work - no time for "catch up" unlike most other things.

If you plant what is left, you won't get a bulb and cloves but you will get some nice mild green garlic.
                Better than throwing them away....
