Sigmadew Cucumbers

So, I sowed quite a few different cukes this year, for a range of varieties, and to see what would grow best in the new greenhouse.

I sort of lost track of what was what, and just left them all to it.

I got these 2 beauties though, off of 2 Sigmadew plants. Sigmadews are quite rare apparently, and you get 3 seeds from HSL. Once they grew and I looked at the label I kicked myself, as
a - I hadn't hand pollenated it so they might not come true to type as there were 3 other cuke plants in there
b - only one was growing on each plant.

I wanted to put one in the village show, so 3 days ago I took one off and put it in the fridge [the show is next weekend] and left the other on the plant, as they were beginning to go even paler than they were throughout.

Lo and behold, tonight, the plant with the removed cuke has grown another one - it is 3 inches long already, and the flower was still closed (YAY).

So, I nipped a closed male flower from the other sig plant, stripped it back - [they are tiny and really really fiddly], opened the female flower, brushed the male parts on the female, closed the flower up, tied with twine [gently] and put my marker on it [which is the white rafia stuff that wilkos put round their canes].

This means, that if I can keep the plant going until this cuke is totally mature; I will have lots of seed to share. And I can eat one, show the other and keep the third.
