  • quick onion question

I think you're supposed to put your onions into the greenhouse as soon as they've germinated? Mine are certainly looking leggy, but how tough are they? It was -7C last night...

Jacob, They should be fine. I've had onion seedlings in the unheated greenhouse for several weeks now and they are fine despite similarly cold overnight temperatures. I was worried too but zazen reassured me

Thanks! I guess I'll stick them out then...

Follow up question -- my overwintering sets look terrible (first go at overwintering). Smashed and broken with little stubby green all that's left showing. I'm quite (but only quite) optimistic that some better weather will bring them back to life. Should I be?

They should be fine, they'll have quite extensive root systems already and will quickly recover with better weather.

Phew! Shame the same can't be said about the broad beans, but I've had a moan about that already...
