  • Peas - what now?

After having enjoyed some lovely peas of my winterplanted plants, I've now picked all the pods of a a few plants. And as I've done so it seems like they are send it out some new growth at the top of the plant.

Should I leave that to grow to get some more, or should I trim the plant down a bit and let it regrow from nearer the ground? or is this it, they are done for the summer?

    I'm grateful for any advice

it probably won't grow from nearer the ground.By picking out the tips what you've done is encouraged it to send out new shoots. In effect you've encouraged it to think it's dying, hence the new shoots.
They may provide an edible crop, they may not.

My Norli mange tout in the polytunnel had finished producing and have now started flowering again - not expecting a massive second crop but picked the first of the second set last night so am leaving them there for a bit.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Normally I've found the 2nd crop to be very small when I've left peas in situ.
If I have something to go in, then out they come, if I'm not bothered, I'll leave them.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

As an update, the new shoots are producing flowers, and as the plants that i was talking about are dotted in between other peas that haven't been picked yet, I'll leave it and see if i get a 2nd crop.

              Thanks for the advice :-)
