  • Pea harvest

My peas (grown in P/T) are almost ready. We often eat them pods and all if young enough, but I wondered how much of the plant is edible. We use young pea shoots in salads, but wondered about the mature plant.
A bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work!
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

I think you'll find the rest is pretty tough. I'd stick with the peas and the shoots, if I were you. Pods can be used to flavour stock or soups, but otherwise you'd need some serious dentures!

I think the tendrils are supposed to be yummy even on an older plant - although I've not tried it myself - give me a few weeks though
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Our peas are only half grown - but I nibbled a tendril earlier and it is indeed yummy, very pea-flavoured

we use the whole plant in our Tearooms to make soup. Braised with some potato, a few cloves of garlic, couple of carrots and celery sticks, simmer with veg stock and seasoning then blitz. Yummy with toasted french bread.
