can anyone tell what to do about my bolting onions do i pull them and what i can do with them or should i should do with them

Cut the seed pod stem off, allow the onion to grow on, harvest when of a usable size and use straight away. They will not store.

Do you dry the ones that have flowered?

I am using these first, but all my onions are currently drying including the ones that had flower spikes...

Where do you store them? Onions in my house seem to go soft quickly! Ive got lots at the lottie drying in the GH.

              Where should they go next?

Is light an issue? And what about ideal temperature?

Some of mine are on trays in the stayput with the door open, others are on trays in the shed.

Light isn't an issue. You don't want to cook them and you don't want to freeze

Mine don't seem to be swelling... they have lots of leaf, and I started them in the greenhouse as advised on here, which seemed to give them a fantastic start, but they just seem to be slow to swell. How much longer should I leave them before lifting to store. Do they take long to go brown? I was hoping to show some but they just dont seem big enough. poor things! Thanks x

Mine are not swelling either. Like on other threds, its a bad year for lots of veg.
If only we can have week or two without a lot of rain and some brightness they should start to bulk up.

Even folks like me who are growing onions specifically to show are struggling this year but there should be at least a months growing time yet before needing to lift onions for late August shows and even more time for later shows
