    Molasses and seeds

    I thougt I would share this with everyone. When I start to plant my seeds in trays or in the ground I always feed them with molasses. I put a big spoonful in warm water and then add that to a 5 litre watering can and stir it in until it has dissolved. Then let the water cool down a bit before feeding your seeds. It feeds the bacteria in the compost, you can also add the spores of the Giant puffball to help the roots.

        Do seeds need feeding? I thought all they needed was enclosed within them

          I just use it to give them a boost, it mainly feeds the bacteria in the soil, that then feeds the roots which then feeds the plant. Or thats how it should work anyways

            Steve, have you done a side-by-side trial to see if your method is better than not using the booster? It would be really interesting to see the results

              I havent yet but I will. I will cracking on it this week and show the results when done

                    I like trials, they always through up surprises. I did peat v. peat-free this year and had interesting results. Almost everything did better with peat-free, except chillies.

                      Cool, I cant wait now. Will be interesting. I have never done a trial on anything so am excited to see the see the results.
