I am thinking about changing my large plot in to link a board beds, have other people used them and what do you think?

I have 8 link-a-bord beds and I think it's brilliant stuff - I even moved house with them
especially now they have long hoops so you can do cloches over the top of the beds and fleece them - I have all my brassicas under fleece

I have just brought my second lot of linkaboard and i love them, also i`m not sure whether it has anything to do with the linkaboard, but i have not had any slugs, and i am a newbie this year to vegetable gardeningComment

I'm using them for one of my beds and have been very pleased with them. Not had any problems and they are supposed to keep the heat in very well.Comment

I've been looking on the link-a-bord website and it looks excellent, definitely going to invest in some for next year.
Just a little question that I hope some one can help me with. When building a raised bed with it do you still have to stake into the ground? It doesn't say on the website anything about fixings.

It also looks like a set delivery fee of £5 so if we buy them one at a time it will cost a load of delivery. I just don't think I will be able to afford them.Comment

The dowels are what you use rosyb to keep the links together, you can cut them to size with pruners then just use a mallet to hammer them in.Originally posted by rosybComment

When I order dowels seperately to the boards the postage comes up on the site as being quite expensive but when the order gets processed by real people they reduce the postage as they can be sent by ordinary post rather than by courier so I would give them a call and see whether the same is done for individual boards or notOriginally posted by WorldorComment

I've got 9 of them and that's only because there was a special offer in "Amateur Gardener" magazine so it's worth having a look at some of these mags to see if you can get a better deal.
By the way you do still get slugs, but I think the boards are brilliant. Easy to move around and less back breaking.

I've got 12 of them (which are all double height) and I am really happy with them. This is been my first proper year of growing veg and I am growing lots of different things and everything seems to be doing really well in the beds. My main crop potatoes are planted in one of the beds and they have gone absolutely mad. I have not seen any other potatoes that are as tall as mine at the moment.
I would recommend them to you wholeheartedly - you won't be disappointed.

Hi can you tell me have any of you used the cross supports that harrod go on about and what depth should I go for if i am putting them on a patio ?

I've got 3 of them 2x1m , two of which I have raised another level to make them deeper. I also have one 0.5 x 1m and another 0.5 x0.5. I have been very pleased with them. The larger ones are 3 years old and I have moved them a couple of times now. I have been very pleased with them. I haven't used the cross supports.AKA AngieComment
