  • Celariac help needed

I've planted out around 20 celariac, in a block like sweetcorn. I'm try to keep them well watered but it's a bit tricky right now. Someone told me I need to take off the leaves at the top so that the bulb will bulk up............is this true and if so

when do I take the leaves off and is it all of them or just a few
    and
    should I be feeding them

Thanks in advance for the advice

    Dr. Hessayon says :

Remove side shoots - from midsummer onwards remove the lower leaves so as to expose the crown.
In late September draw soil around the swollen stem-bases.

I think they need to be quite big before you start taking the leaves off. Joy Larkom says, "Remove lower, aging leaves as season progresses to expose swelling root." bob Flowerdew says it is essentailly a bog plant (so water, water, water).

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!
