  • carrot sowing question

    Hi

I was wondering if I can plant purple haze now for spring or perhaps another carrot variety. I think early nantes is for pulling in autumn is it not? Not done this before

thanks for any advice, grew some great ones in spring - Amsterdam forcing, they are huge!

prolly a bit late for carrots this year, any you sow now will not grow that big and then go straight to seed next spring, best off waiting until jan or feb under cover or march onwards outside. what about using the space for spring onions, chard or sping cabbage?
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!

I sowed a few pots about a fortnight ago as they became free, I plan to pop them under the big plastic cloche if the weather turns before they are ready. I haven't tried it before, but hey what have I got to lose other than a few pence worth of seed?

Have just sown some parmex carrots which are supposed to mature in 8 weeks. I know they are only little round ones but a carrot is a carrot. I have plenty of main crop out on the lottie but just thought I would see how these ones do.

I'll be sowing Nantes Frubund (sp?) today. The packet says sow August for early carrots next year, so that's what I'll be doing.
