  • Can i eat this?

Ive just been planting some garlic, but some of the cloves have lost their papery skin, can i eat this garlic rather than having to throw it away??

Ok - but why don't you sow it?

As Zazen said, why not plant it? It really doesn't need the skin, and I always remove any loose bits anyway.

I don't know if they spray seed garlic with anything? I don't think I'd eat it.

          But I would sow it

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I thought that if the skin came of and revealed the actual garlic it would rot in the ground ??

Some growers remove all the outer skin and then dip the garlic in alcohol. This ensures no diseases or bugs are brought to the plot

                No.

The actual garlic rots anyway and becomes the skin of the next year's garlic.

I'd not worry - the skin isn't going to stop anything as it is so papery.
