  • Anyone use whey as fertilizer

Anyone use whey as liquid fertilizer ?
    Is it any use ?

Not really part of this forum but for the record..
Watched the program Lakes On A Plate and the guy made some cheese so I had a try.
Pan full of milk, as it boils take off heat and stir in juice of a lemon ( cider viniger should also work ). Wait till it cools a bit 30 mins.
The curds separate out and you ladle them into a cheese cloth, I use a plastic sieve but they were quite lumpy and I think a normal colander would do.
Leave over night and you get lots of firm cottage cheese like cheese. I think it's called paneer. Needs salt !
But you get lots of Whey left and I don't know what to use it for, hence the post about fertilizer.

I use my whey from paneer cheese and yoghurt for soups, smoothies, scones and in bread making so there's never any left to use as fertilizer.

We had a thread about using whey the other day.

I've heard of coating containers with milk to get algae to grow on them so I would imagine whey would do the same on the soil?
