| Hi everyone, I'm so excited - my husband is currently putting the finishing touches to 3 cold frames he has made for me today, and I have a greenhouse arriving on Saturday for my 40th Birthday present. I'm thrilled! I know that it's very late in the year now, but between moving house, husband working long hours, and finances, it's only now that I have them. Is it too late to plant anything now? I really want to keep us supplied with as much salad and veg as possible, for as much of the year as possible. Any suggestions as to what I can still plant, and when I can expect them to crop, would be very appreciated! Thanks Caroline |

| A few days ago I sowed all the year round lettuce and spicy salad leaves with a view to dibbing them out in the cold greenhouse when the toms are done with. They are up and running. Worth a go.

| I too was wondering if anything could be grown in a cold greenhouse under fleece over winter? Is it best to sow the seed inside until germinated and the plant out into a cold greenhouse, or just straight into the greenhouse border? Would kale or anything else grow? Ta. ![]()

| You could start winter lettuce, radicchio or claytonia indoors and they should all survive in a cold greenhouse. My tunnel is home to the above (except Claytonia) and also to youngish calabrese, PSB and Black Tuscan Kale. I also have these three brassicas outside but thought I'd grow some more in the tunnel to bring them on quicker and protect them from the various beasts that wander my field.
