Default Greenhouse advice...

Hi All,

Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn't find the right one. While browsing online I came across a really cheap greenhouse. £300 for a 6x12 seems awfully cheap to me. I just wanted advice if this greenhouse is any good. If not I'd be really grateful if you could point me to a good one (reasonably priced). I'm ideally after a 8x10

Ultimate Professional 12

Thanks for all the help, this forum is great

I have just had mine delivered not put up yet though.
There are 2 threads on here about this greenhouse, seems you either love it or want to burn it!

Will see if I can find it and post for you

janeyo

edited to say I don't know how to do it, but look under undrecover ops and search 'opinions on norfolk greenhouses' and 'polycarb greenhouses'... hope this helps.

Thanks janeyo, is it the same greenhouse you purchased? I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on it once you've put it up

Will keep you posted, unfortunately the base (slabs) has only just gone down and needs tweaking, ie OH needs to get a man in as he can't get them level on his own. (not built for it he tells me lol)

We are going to screw the base to slabs all round the edge and leave me with growing space in the middle bits of the greenhouse. I think it's more of a stability issue with them but if you can get that right, bib and braces then they are fine.

OH's opinion was that at that price he would make sure it was properly secure as it was so much cheaper.

Thanks Janeyo

BTW, did you also purchase the ultimate 12 norfolk greenhouse? I also plan to eventually put up the greenhouse on paving slabs. How do you plan to secure them to the paving slabs? Please do tell me. I currently have a 9x9 base which I will also have to extend if I am to accommodate a 6x12

OH tells me he will secure it with screws and rawl plugs into the slabs. Got 20 slabs down for my 12x6 so hopefully this should prevent it being blown away!

Thanks Janeyo, having a closer look at the greenhouse it seems like it doesn't have any vents. Are you doing anything about this? Is it an issue if there are no vents?

Well I don't know how true this is as obviously not got it up yet, but the lady in the shop assured me (I went to see it before buying, is just up the road from me) that opening the door and the back window is sufficient as you get a throgh draft. I did however also get the solar panel fan that goes in one of the top vents.

Time will tell.....

Thanks Janeyo, how many solarvents did you get? I might order this one soon. Do the panels take these vents easily? Or do you have to cut the panels to accommodate these vents?

Thanks for all your help

Thanks Janeyo and Two_sheds. There is also one called the BillyOh-Rosette which is a lot more expensive than this. Any opinions on this one? This one is a 8x12 is almost £590 but it does come with vents included

The OH had a chat with norfolk greenhouses and apparently they have a wait of 28 days. So we finally decided to go in for the BillyOh Rosette 7'4 x 7'4 greenhouse currently on sale at £280. We thought that is the best value for money at this point. Hopefully if it arrives before the weekend I'll have the long weekend to attempt to put it up

Hi they told me 28 days too and it came in a week!
Got 2 strong chaps coming thursday to lay the base. OH has put the slabs down but they are too wonky, so need muscle power! They will get the ground level and put down menbrane sand under etc.
No idea when the greenhouse will eventually get up - xmas maybe? lol

Thanks Markwcel and Janeyo.
Already have the base up and waiting for the greenhouse. However, from the horror stories I've heard I reckon it's going to be a good many weekends before I can have it up. Markwcel, did you also put up the BillyOh greenhouse? How much time did it take you? Hopefully, you can give me some advice when I'm stuck putting it up
BTW, the BillyOh greenhouse does come with a base and anchor, do I need to put these in if I'm erecting the greenhouse on the slabs?

i notice the website where the greenhouse comes from have updated the instructions as the written ones that come with the greenhouse are rubbish. the way i see it the greenhouse needs the base and anchors down securely before comencing building. I put all mine down on a wooden deck. to put it on slabs you will need to probably drill a few holes in the base to anchor it to your slabs...and i mean quite a few holes...maybe worth emailing the website and asking...
